In Japan you have to pay if you kill yourself by jumping in front of a train

Just heard about this in a video. Apparently if you kill yourself by jumping infront of a train here in Japan your family will be charged for the money loss caused by the train having to have to stop.
Lol.
Supposedly this is some sort of threat to those planning to kill themselves by jumping in front of a train. If they don't want their family to suffer even more from their death, do find another way to take your life..

Heard about it in this video:

  1. As weird as it sounds, that rule/law does make sense. Blood gets all over, especially if the train is going somewhat fast. Even though you may get your message out to other folks, you likely will do so WAY too much! They'll never, EVER forget what they saw...

Oh and don't forget the train driver! It's not fun when you're behind the controls, unable to stop fast enough to avoid hitting someone... :(

(I've talked with someone who works on a passenger rail line here in the United States. The clean-up crew is not for the faint of heart!)
